The atomic spectrum of hydrogen - chemistry/化学


This spectrum as shown in (a), like the rainbow produced when sunlight is dispersed by raindrops, contains all the wavelengths of visible light.

In contrast, when the hydrogen emission spectrum in the visible region is passed through a prism, as shown in (b), we see only a few lines, each of which corresponds to a discrete wavelength. The hydrogen emission spectrum is called a line spectrum.
